There has been a film night in Burley for many years, supported and underwritten by Burley Parish Church. However, at the end of 2014, faced with a change in charging policy by the film suppliers, the Church no longer felt able to continue running ‘Moviola’ nights.
Faced with the possibility of losing this popular community facility a number of local people got together and offered to establish an independent cinema group in the village – a move supported by the Church PCC. Each individual donated an amount of money to provide a ‘sink fund’ in the event that ticket sales did not cover expenditure.
Burley Village Cinema (BVC), as an Unincorporated Association, was launched at an open meeting on 9th February 2015 attended by 75 local people. A constitution was agreed and a management committee appointed. This was followed by our first film screening.
Films are shown on the first Monday of the month (except in August and January, 10 films per year) in Burley Village Hall, Pound Lane, Burley commencing at 7.30 pm. Tea/Coffee and New Forest Ice Creams are available for purchase during the interval.
All films shown are recent box office releases, chosen by the members, from a list of available titles. See details on this site of forthcoming films.
We look forward to welcoming you to Burley Village Cinema.
